Funding Guidelines

As a responsive grantmaker, The Rose Hills Foundation supports qualified tax-exempt charitable organizations for the benefit of the people of Southern California with a current emphasis on organizations based in and serving Los Angeles County.

The Foundation is committed to promoting the betterment of life in Southern California. This wouldn’t be possible without the outstanding organizations who complete life-changing work throughout Southern California.

We encourage all applicants to review the following information, and read our Frequently Asked Questions, prior to starting the application process.

The Foundation looks for the following when reviewing applications:

A history of achievement, good management, and a stable financial condition
R
Organizations that allocate a high percentage of their operating expenses directly to their programs
R
Programs that are self-sustaining and will not necessitate continued dependence on the Foundation
R
Programs where the Foundation’s gift is matched or multiplied
R
Programs consistent with the Foundation’s identified areas of interest
R
Programs which will benefit people of Southern California, with a focus in Los Angeles County
R
Programs which will reach the greatest number of people at the most reasonable cost
R
Significant programs with the promise of making a measurable impact
R
Organizations where 100% of the Board of Directors make a financial contribution to and/or fulfill their give-or-get requirements each year
